Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has returned to Delhi Capitals as the team’s head coach for the 2027 Indian Premier League season. Ganguly first joined Delhi Capitals in 2019 as an Advisor. The 54-year-old was also the head coach of Pretoria Capitals, Delhi Capitals’ SA20 team, last year. The two groups take turns managing the franchise every two years, with GMR’s tenure ending in 2026. Ganguly takes over from Hemang Badani, under whom Delhi Capitals missed out on the IPL playoffs in the last two seasons. “I am looking forward to take on the role of Head Coach in the IPL. “I have worked closely with the owners, management, support staff and players, which makes this an exciting responsibility for me. We have a talented group and have played a good brand of cricket in the recent past. Delhi Capitals is jointly owned by GMR Group and JSW Group. Since then, he has held several roles within the franchise, including Director of Cricket for both the men’s and women’s teams.
