Agra: A 30-year-old woman and her daughters, aged 4 and 1, were killed after their motorcycle collided with a container dumper on NH-34 in Mainpuri’s Bewar area and became trapped underneath the vehicle, which dragged them for nearly 1km early Tuesday, police said. The woman’s husband, who was riding the motorcycle, survived with injuries.
The accident occurred around 4am near Kapil Muni Ashram under Bewar police station limits when Bobby , 32, a contractual employee at the district collectorate and resident of Kachhpura village, was travelling with his wife Suman , 30, and daughters Priyanshi, 4, and Lali , 1.
Investigators said the dumper driver stopped after noticing the fire and allegedly tried to flee. Bewar SHO Anil Kumar told TOI that Bobby was undergoing treatment. The truck driver has been arrested and the vehicle seized,” he said.
The family was on its way to attend a funeral at Bobby’s in-laws’ house. As the motorcycle was dragged, friction caused the dumper’s wheels and lower portion to catch fire, which later spread to a consignment of shoes loaded in the vehicle. The motorcycle was gutted. Residents chased and caught him before handing him over to police. Police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot and brought the fire under control. Bobby was rescued and taken to the community health centre in Bewar before being shifted to the district hospital, while the bodies of Suman and her two daughters were recovered and sent for postmortem. “A case will be registered after receiving a police complaint.
