Around 6,500 students from schools, colleges and educational institutions across Ahmedabad gathered at GMDC Ground on Tuesday to create a giant human rangoli depicting the map of India under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’.

The event was organised by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the Ahmedabad Municipal School Board under the theme ‘Seva na rango, Rashtra na sang’ (Colours of service, together with the nation) to mark 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s public service, governance and commitment.

Organisers said the programme aimed to blend creativity with messages on environmental conservation, responsible water disposal and a cleaner city. Chief minister Bhupendra Patel attended the programme, interacted with the participants and inspected the formation. He praised the students for their creativity, discipline and collective effort, and distributed certificates recognising the achievement. Arranged in seven colours — orange, yellow, red, purple, green, blue and white — the students formed a giant representation of India. The event also served as a platform to promote awareness about civic issues. The students created rangolis highlighting AMC initiatives such as Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR), stormwater management, sewage systems, and cleanliness. Minister of state for urban development Darshana Vaghela, mayor Hitesh Barot, MPs Dinesh Makwana and Hasmukh Patel, along with several MLAs and AMC officials, attended the event.
