Organisers can use microphones, loudspeakers and public address systems between 10pm and midnight for garba, dandiya and other festivities. The order, issued under provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Gujarat Police Act, specifically prohibits the use of sound systems after midnight. Organisers must adhere to prescribed noise limits while conducting events. The order also prohibits the use of microphones, loudspeakers and public address systems in silence zones, including areas around hospitals, educational institutions and courts. Unarmed head constables and officers of higher ranks have been authorised to register complaints against violators under relevant provisions of BNS and Gujarat Police Act. Download the TOI App.
