An FIR has been registered against an employee of a jewellery store in Malad for teaming up with three associates and stealing gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 1.3 crore. Malad Police are looking for the accused.

Mumbai: An FIR has been registered against an employee of a jewellery store in Malad for teaming up with three associates and stealing gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 1.3 crore. Bherulal was entrusted with the responsibility of opening the store at 10.30 am every day and shutting shop around 9.30 pm.

Police said the store is located at Natraj Market in Malad (W). Rajput had worked at his store for the past two years, police said. Malad Police are looking for the accused. The store owner was out of town when the incident occurred. Three people were employed at the store. One of them, Bherulal, was a relative of the owner and lived with him. Finally, the store owner came down from Rajasthan only to find out that the keys did not belong to his store at all. The lock was broken. Inside, the store was in complete disarray and gold and silver ornaments were missing. He checked CCTV footage from a neighbouring jewellery shop and came across images of Rajput and three other men carrying large bags out of his store. He then approached the police and lodged a complaint.
