Mumbai: The Borivli Police have registered an FIR against two sisters for extorting money

Initially, they demanded Rs 25 lakh but brought it down to Rs 7 lakh.

Police said the women, Mansi and Kinjal, threatened to file a complaint against the restaurant if money was not paid. Mumbai: The Borivli Police have registered an FIR against two sisters for extorting money from the owner of a hotel, where a rat was allegedly found in a masala dosa while they were dining with their family last week. Further investigation is on.

The women and their relatives had gone for a meal to hotel in Borivli on Sept 24 when their relative allegedly found a rat in the masala dosa, according to the FIR. On Sept 28, the FDA suspended the restaurant’s licence. Thereafter, the hotelier got a call from the accused demanding Rs 25 lakh as compensation. When the hotelier said he couldn’t pay up so much, they allegedly bargained and brought the demand down to Rs 7 lakh. He paid them Rs 1 lakh. He informed the police and an FIR was registered against the duo on Oct 5.

In a meeting with the hotelier, the accused said their relative’s health had failed after the meal with the rat in it and they needed to look after him. They created a ruckus at the restaurant and summoned police. A video clip of the rat in the meal went viral on social media two days later. The accused, however, kept calling and texting the hotelier subsequently for the rest of the money.
