Kolkata: The higher education department has issued a notification declaring state govt nominees to the governing bodies of several aided colleges across Bengal.

The names of two state representatives have been nominated for college governing bodies across various districts, including Kolkata, Alipurduar, Darjeeling , Jalpaiguri, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, Purulia, and West Midnapore. In Kolkata, where the names of governing body presidents have already been announced for institutions like Surendranath College, City College, Gurudas College, Seth Anandram Jaipuria College, Jogamaya Devi College, and Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College, the names of two govt nominees have now been declared. Department officials confirmed that the primary objective of these timely nominations is to enforce smooth academic governance and streamlining administrative workflows across state-aided colleges.

This move is part of the routine administrative process to restructure college governing bodies in accordance with regulatory norms, according to department officials. Several other institutions, including Alipurduar Vivekananda College, Raja Peary Mohan College in Chinsurah, and Sonada Degree College in Darjeeling, are also on the list. Official notices have already been circulated across college administrations.
