Hyderabad: Telangana Congress working president T Jagga Reddy on Wednesday urged people, public representatives, Congress leaders and party workers in the Sangareddy constituency to use drinking water judiciously over the next seven months, warning that the situation could become critical until the next rains.

The Mission Bhagiratha superintending engineer said water would be supplied on alternate days after the Dasara festival. On the recent release of water from Singur, Jagga Reddy said the decision was taken based on expert recommendations to facilitate dam repairs and ensure its long-term safety. Jagga Reddy held a review meeting with officials from the electricity, rural water supply, Mission Bhagiratha and municipal departments to discuss drinking water and power supply issues. They expressed confidence that the available reserves would meet drinking water requirements until December. Jagga Reddy directed officials to create awareness in every household about preventing water wastage through public announcements, pamphlets and public address systems. He urged residents to switch off taps when not in use and suggested measures such as installing timer starters and recharge pits near motor installations. The meeting also discussed regulating water withdrawal from the Manjira Barrage, arranging water tankers and improving Mission Bhagiratha supplies. Download the TOI App.
