BENGALURU: A “people’s tribunal” on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will be held at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Thursday, with CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and actor-activist Prakash Raj to participate. In a video message, he said the tribunal would bring together “victims of SIR” from across the state. Rathee also confirmed his participation in a video posted on X, saying the event was part of a fight to “save democracy”. The programme will be followed by a “chappal protest” in solidarity with women, Ranka had said in a post on X on October 6.
People who claim to have been affected by the SIR exercise are also expected to attend from across Karnataka. The event is being organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) along with youth organisations and civil society groups. Organisers have described the programme as a campaign to highlight the concerns of people allegedly removed from the electoral rolls during the SIR exercise. Prakash Raj, who has been critical of the SIR, urged citizens to join the event. The Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls has triggered political debate in Karnataka, with critics raising concerns over the possible exclusion of eligible voters. Download the TOI App.
