US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, while acknowledging that he remains unsure whether the Norwegian Nobel Committee will select him for the 2026 award.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said the announcement was imminent and suggested that the committee may not favour him. “I don’t know what their decision is going to be,” Trump said of the 2026 award, which the Norwegian Nobel Committee will announce on Friday. “They have a ​reputation for maybe not giving it to people like me,” he added. “It is about that time,” Trump remarked. “But I was very honoured to receive it indirectly last time by the recipient, who said nobody in history deserves it more than President Trump. This is not the first time Trump has said he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that his diplomatic interventions since returning to the White House have helped resolve multiple international conflicts. “I’ve done stuff that nobody else has ever done. I’m not bragging, I’m just telling you the facts. No president has probably ever settled any wars. I settled eight wars. Trump has also credited his administration’s trade and economic pressure, including threatened tariffs, with pushing countries towards diplomatic engagement. However, his claims about the extent of those diplomatic achievements have faced challenges, with conflicts continuing or resurfacing in several regions.
