The proposal was discussed at a workshop organised by the West UP Sub Area at Brigadier Usman Auditorium in the Army Area in Agra on Thursday.

AGRA : Ex-servicemen aged 70 and above may soon be able to get medicines delivered to their homes, as the Army explores ways to reduce repeated visits to ECHS (Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme) polyclinics. The workshop reviewed healthcare services for around 3.38 lakh ex-servicemen and their dependants in West UP, with medicine availability and easier access to treatment among the key issues discussed. Preparations were under way to make medicines available at home for ex-servicemen aged 70 and above.

They stressed better coordination between ECHS-empanelled hospitals and military hospitals so that beneficiaries can receive treatment without unnecessary delays. Major General Sumit Rana, General Officer Commanding, West UP Sub Area, said, “The workshop also reviewed the existing ECHS system and recent policy changes. Officials also discussed streamlining the procurement of medicines, expanding digital services and promoting prescriptions using generic names. Representatives of empanelled hospitals, ex-servicemen and their dependants from Bijnor, Babugarh, Meerut, Mainpuri, Etah, Bulandshahr, Firozabad and Agra attended the workshop. Officials directed empanelled hospitals to improve services and emphasised the need to treat ex-servicemen with dignity and respect. Download the TOI App.
