Farmers, KRS allege irregularities in livestock scheme

Chitradurga : Chitradurga farmers’ unit and Karnataka Rashtra Samithi (KRS) have demanded cancellation of the beneficiary list for distributing cows and livestock to farmers in mining-affected areas, alleging irregularities and lack of transparency in the selection process. The organisations submitted a memorandum to Chitradurga taluk panchayat executive officer Ravikumar , seeking a fresh selection. He alleged inadequate representation for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities and the inclusion of people who had migrated from other districts and taluks or lived in rented houses. He urged officials to hold meetings at gram panchayats, explain the scheme and ensure a transparent selection process.

KRS activist Ramachandrappa alleged that officials who visited the Sirigere gram panchayat office on Tuesday failed to satisfactorily answer public questions about the list.
