Pune: Maharashtra tourists appear to have a strong affection for God’s Own Country, with more than 7.71 lakh visitors from the state travelling to Keralam last year, according to Sooraj PK, information officer, Keralam tourism department. The trend has continued into 2026, with domestic tourist arrivals in Keralam rising 10.98% in the first quarter compared with the same period in 2025, according to the latest tourism statistics and trends. Varkala hosted the second International Surfing Festival at Edava Beach in 2025.

The Kochi-Munnar-Thekkady-Alappuzha itinerary is also popular among Maharashtra tourists, he said.
