New Delhi: Delhi High Court Friday refused to grant an urgent hearing on a plea by Indian Youth Congress (IYC) seeking permission to protest against chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Jantar Mantar over the alleged irregularities in the SIR exercise.
The court said the petition will be listed for Oct 12 after the counsel for the petitioner mentioned the matter and tried to assure the court that all defects have been removed but the plea was not yet listed. Through its national president Uday Bhanu Chib, the organisation approached the court challenging Delhi Police ’s Oct 1 communication denying the outfit permission to hold a peaceful demonstration at Jantar Mantar. IYC requested Delhi Police on Sept 25 for a protest from Oct 1-25.
It will be listed for Monday,” the bench said. The plea was first mentioned Thursday. Since it did not come up for hearing, the counsel again mentioned it. A bench of acting Chief Justice Nitin Wasudeo Sambre and Justice Sanjay Sharma declined the request. We will hear it Monday.
