The message claimed to be related to an SBI Card update and contained an APK file. Believing it to be genuine, he downloaded and installed the application and granted the permissions it requested. Later that night, around 10pm, he began receiving alerts about unauthorised transactions from his bank account. When he tried accessing the YONO SBI application, he found that his account access had been blocked. The next morning, he contacted the bank’s helpline and later obtained an account statement from his branch, which reflected the disputed transactions. He alleged that the fraudsters used the APK file to gain access to his phone and exploit the permissions granted during installation, enabling them to carry out banking and credit card transactions without his knowledge or consent.
