Because he cried heavily when his dog, James, died, he said he did not shed a tear when she passed away, a reaction that surprised him.

Speaking with Lewis Howes on The School of Greatness podcast, Bradshaw recalled that he was around eight years old when his mother told him he would never achieve anything in life. “My mother said you’ll never amount to [s**t],” Bradshaw said. I even told her…it’s painful. Bradshaw said he struggled to focus in school, despite trying hard, and often questioned his own abilities. After learning about his attention difficulties and receiving treatment and counselling, Bradshaw said he felt relieved to finally understand why certain things had been so hard for him.

NFL legend Terry Bradshaw has shared a painful memory from his childhood while speaking about his complicated relationship with his mother, Novis Genoa Gay Bradshaw. His difficulties became easier to understand after he learned he had attention deficit disorders, which affected his ability to concentrate. Football eventually gave him a path to success, but reaching the NFL did not suddenly make him confident. Yet, he has admitted that he often struggled with self doubt as a quarterback. He also explained that fear and pressure affected the way he played, showing that his success on the field did not always match how he felt about himself. He believes the difference may be linked to years of pain that he had never fully dealt with. His story also shows how understanding a problem can change the way a person sees themselves.
