Lucknow: A sessions court in Maharajganj has sentenced four members of the same family to life imprisonment in a 14-year-old murder case linked to a dispute over an agricultural field boundary in Baluhahiya village under Chowk police station limits. The incident occurred on June 24, 2012, in Baluhahiya (Nursery) village, according to the prosecution. The accused allegedly gathered following a long-standing dispute regarding the demarcation of a field boundary and attacked the complainant Kailash’s family using axes, sticks and other blunt weapons. Police registered an FIR soon after the incident, conducted an investigation and later filed a chargesheet in the case. During the trial, the court examined witness testimonies and other evidence placed on record. Additional district govt counsel (Criminal) Sarveshwar Mani Tripathi represented the prosecution and argued that the victim had been brutally killed and that the offence was of a grave nature. After hearing the arguments and reviewing the material on record, the court convicted the four accused and pronounced the sentences.

The assault resulted in the death of 60-year-old Sitaram on the spot, while Satyanarayan and other family members suffered serious injuries, the prosecution stated.

2, Gyanendra Rao delivered the verdict on Thursday, holding Rajaram, Kailash , Mohit and Ramlalit guilty of murder. The court also imposed a fine of ₹20,000 on each of the convicts.
