Pune: The decomposed body of a 30-year-old software engineer was found at his rented flat in Wadgaon Sheri on Friday afternoon. Chandannagar police suspect that he may have been electrocuted while sleeping, as an electric hot water bag was found under his neck. However, the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
The victim was staying in a rented flat in Somnathnagar, Wadgaon Sheri, and had moved there about three months ago, the police said. The flat had remained locked for the past two days, and the tenant had not been seen outside.
His body had already started decomposing,” an officer from the Chandannagar police said. The officer said the police found an electric hot water bag under the techie’s neck when they reached the spot. We are investigating whether the bag had developed a technical fault or whether there was any other reason behind his death,” he said.
When a foul smell started emanating from the flat, the landlord tried calling the victim several times but received no response. “The landlord then opened the door and found the techie lying on his bed. “We suspect that the techie may have been electrocuted. The police have registered a case of accidental death, and further investigation is underway, the officer added.
