Chennai: A head constable attached to the Avadi Tank Factory police station staged a black-flag protest and raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, a day before Modi’s visit.

He said he was protesting against the treatment given to his 10-year-old daughter at the Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children in Egmore. He said the doctors had misdiagnosed her condition as brain fever when she suffered a seizure in Oct 2021.

He said his daughter had received treatment for kidney disorder, nephrotic syndrome at the hospital since she was three. Complications of this led to the amputation of her leg, he said. Muthapudupet police detained Kothandapani, near his home in Muthapudupet. Kothandapani accused the hospital of medical negligence.

He said he was denied entry to secretariat when he and tried to submit a petition. When the hospital denied the allegations, Kothandapani sought state government intervention. Download the TOI App.
