Disposal of Drugs by Jalgaon police
Nashik : The Jalgaon police have disposed of narcotics worth Rs65.7 crore seized during two separate raids in the district. In July last year, the Jalgaon police seized over 43 kg of amphetamine worth Rs64.5 crore. Meanwhile, 884 grams of methaqualone were destroyed from a separate case registered with the Bhusawal Bazarpeth police station in 2024.
The Dhule rural police were called in for assistance and subsequently sought help from the forensic science department, which confirmed the substance was amphetamine. The transit took place under heavy police security, and the entire disposal process was video-recorded to maintain complete legal transparency. The drugs were being transported in a car from Delhi to Bengaluru. The driver, who already had a case registered against him in Bengaluru approximately six years ago, was arrested. Acting on a tip-off about the drug smuggling operation, the Jalgaon police laid a trap, and the highway police intercepted the vehicle at Kannad Ghat. Following the confirmation, the car and contraband were seized, the driver was arrested, and a case was registered with the Chalisgaon rural police. The disposal of the drugs was carried out under the guidance of Jalgaon superintendent of police (SP) Srikant Dhivare.
The contraband was transported from Jalgaon to M/s Maharashtra Enviro Power Ltd. at MIDC Ranjangaon in the Shirur taluka of Pune district on Friday.
