Gujarat schools asked to resolve CTS-UDISE+ data mismatches in two: The wider industry impact

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

The directive aims to ensure transparency in academic and administrative records for the 2026-27 academic year. Ahmedabad: Gujarat education department has directed all non-govt aided secondary and higher secondary schools across the state to rectify discrepancies between the data recorded on the CTS and UDISE+ portals in two days.

A recent verification exercise by the commissionerate and district education offices revealed discrepancies between the two portals in student enrolment, the number of teaching and non-teaching staff, and the designations recorded against their names. The designations of all employees currently working at the institutions must be updated accurately and in accordance with the applicable rules.

The state govt has designated UDISE+ data as the primary basis for making decisions related to various govt schemes, financial matters and administrative issues, according to a circular issued by the commissionerate of schools. The data will also be used to determine the sanctioned strength of non-teaching staff, including clerks. The schools have been instructed to verify their records and ensure that the data on both portals is consistent. Student enrolment figures on the CTS and UDISE+ portals must match exactly. Schools must also update the details of teaching and non-teaching staff, including clerks, on the UDISE+ portal in accordance with the information recorded on the CTS portal. The district education officers of Ahmedabad City East and West have warned that the commissioner’s office in Gandhinagar will conduct a further verification of the data in the coming days. If any discrepancies or errors are found, the concerned school principal and management will be held responsible.
