“Delhi Police can give us a date for Jantar Mantar in 24 hours, or we will announce our own protest call,” CJP said.
The move comes a day after Delhi Police detained more than 7,000 protesters across the capital as they tried to reach Jantar Mantar for a demonstration demanding the resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls.

The Supreme Court on Sunday directed authorities to lift prohibitory orders imposed around its complex, stressing that access to justice must remain unhindered and peaceful citizens should not face illegal detention.
