Referring to the state’s drought declaration in 265 talukas, he said govt was aware that distress extended beyond officially notified areas.
Addressing a gathering in Nashik, Fadnavis said the state faces a difficult year and warned that indiscriminate use of water for crops could worsen the crisis in the months ahead. At such a time, our priority must be drinking water for people and livestock,” Fadnavis said. He said govt would ensure livestock do not suffer and promised fodder support through various schemes. Govt will provide fodder support and take all necessary measures,” Fadnavis said. Govt will extend all possible support to them as well,” he said.
“It will be a challenging year for Maharashtra. We have received deficient rainfall and large parts of the state are facing drought. The chief minister also sought to reassure farmers worried about their cattle as fodder shortages loom in several regions. “We will make all efforts to ensure cattle survive this crisis.
More importantly, this is long-term infrastructure that will serve Nashik and its residents for the next 30 years,” the chief minister said.
Praising the pace and quality of execution, he said the projects would leave behind a lasting legacy for the region. CM Fadnavis also reviewed ongoing Simhastha Kumbh Mela infrastructure projects in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar and expressed confidence that key works would be completed ahead of schedule. “These are challenging works, but they appear set to be completed before their deadlines without compromising on quality.
