BAREILLY: A 17-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by his neighbour following a dispute over not being invited to a birthday party in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district, police said on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Vishal Kumar and was arrested after angry villagers allegedly assaulted him and locked him inside a house, news agency PTI reported.
Baheri circle officer Arun Kumar Singh said the accused had been apprehended, while superintendent of police (North) Santosh Kumar said legal proceedings were underway. Police said they were investigating all aspects of the incident. The incident took place in Gokulpur village under the Sheeshgarh police station area on Monday night. Surendra Kumar was hosting a birthday party for his son on Monday night, attended by family members, relatives and some villagers, according to police and villagers.
The victim’s family members and villagers rushed to the spot after hearing the commotion.
