pple HomeView is priced at Rs 39,900 in India, with deliveries starting November 13.
Apple has finally entered the smart display category with HomeView, a 7-inch touchscreen on a compact speaker that can tell members of a household apart by their faces. Built around Siri AI, the company’s rebuilt voice assistant, it plays music, takes FaceTime calls, walks you through recipes and runs your smart home, while keeping each person’s messages and calendar private to them.
This is the same Siri AI that arrived on the iPhone with iOS 27, running in beta here. Brightness ranges from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits, dim enough for a nightstand. LG also has a dual-camera video doorbell, an indoor camera that tilts down when you get home, and outdoor cameras with or without floodlights, all recording at up to 2.5K.
Apple says camera and microphone data is processed inside Secure Exclaves on the A18 chip, out of reach of apps, the software and Apple itself. Personal content from Messages and Calendar appears only when two things line up: HomeView sees your face, and your paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and was recently unlocked. A sibling peering over your shoulder at breakfast gets nothing. The 12MP camera has no physical shutter and is used only for FaceTime and recognition. It answers general knowledge questions, holds a natural conversation and takes chained requests, such as adding a calendar event, setting a reminder for that day and updating a grocery list in one go. Pair it with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone and it taps into personal context, so it can find the recipe a friend sent you on Messages. The aluminium body joins the Liquid Retina display to a domed speaker base through a stainless steel hinge that tilts to suit different table heights. It comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey. On the tabletop model, sound comes from two full-range drivers in the display, plus a down-firing woofer and two force-cancelling passive radiators in the base. The wall model keeps the two drivers, with audio tuned for on-wall placement. Both handle Apple Music with lyrics, Podcasts and Apple TV, and group with HomePods for multiroom audio. Spotify and Audible are on board, but no outside video apps yet. Alongside the display, Apple has co-developed the Apple Home Collection with LG and Schneider Electric. Each device pairs with a tap of an iPhone, runs in the Home app without third-party accounts, and keeps data end-to-end encrypted. The standout is LG’s smart lock, which supports Apple Home Key and unlocks hands-free over UWB while your iPhone stays in your pocket. LG and Schneider Electric each offer a thermostat with remote sensors.
