Kochi : Expressing concern over the ‘inordinate delay’ in rehabilitating them, residents of the P&T Apartment complex in Mundamveli threatened to intensify their ongoing stir.

Emergency rehabilitation for 420 vulnerable residents remains paramount. In Jan 2024, GCDA relocated the families to the newly built P&T Apartment Complex, constructed under the LIFE Mission housing project.

If they don’t provide a concrete solution, we will intensify the protest from the 100th day onwards,” said Abhilash P Parameswaran, president of the action committee. But the authorities are yet to provide rehabilitation despite promises. “We’re demanding rehabilitation by providing us with title deeds. We also want fair compensation as the families, including children, suffered for years,” he added. The committee emphasised that while investigations into construction lapses and corruption must proceed, they should not delay human rights and safety. However, it quickly deteriorated into a nightmare as substandard construction left ceilings leaking, walls damp, plaster falling off, and wastewater seeping into living rooms and kitchens.

“Our peaceful protest, demanding safety and rehabilitation, has entered the 83rd day today.
