Kochi : It took over 20 hours for around 120 firefighters to completely douse the blaze and smouldering plastic at a waste management unit at Perumani in Vengola panchayat. The fire, which broke out around 9.30am on Monday, was completely doused by 8am on Tuesday. The blaze broke out and rapidly spread at the warehouse of GreenEvo Tech in Perumbavoor where they stored collected plastic.
Operating in four sectors, firefighting teams from Perumbavoor, Kothamangalam, Aluva, Tripunithura, Thrikkakara, Gandhinagar, Piravom, Kalloorkkad, Angamaly, Mattancherry, Vypeen, Club Road and Muvattupuzha deployed 12 vehicle units, 92 personnel and 25 civil defence volunteers.
