New WBCERC panel begins hearing cases, plans e-plaint system: The wider industry impact

Kolkata: The newly constituted committee of the West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission (WBCERC) has started hearing complaints from patients. The new govt in the state had dissolved the previous committee. On Tuesday, the commission took up seven cases.

“We have started hearing cases with seven complaints in the presence of all members of the committee,” said WBCERC chairman Justice (retd) Biswajit Basu. This transition will take some time,” Basu said. Sources said the team advised plugging of loopholes and said it will follow up to check if those recommendations have been implemented.

The new panel is also attempting to popularise hearing of cases online to make it convenient for complainants. “We have decided to move towards online hearing and also digitising records. A team from WBCERC recently toured private health facilities in North Bengal.
