Pune: Narhe police arrested three people, including a couple, last week for allegedly breaking into a locked flat in Narhe and stealing gold jewellery and cash around 10 days ago.
They recovered gold jewellery and cash worth Rs 1.25 lakh from the accused. The arrested woman is 42 years old, while her husband is 39. Their 34-year-old accomplice was also arrested.
Police said the couple was allegedly involved in burglaries registered in Shikrapur, Saswad, Solapur and districts in the Konkan region. The court remanded them to judicial custody. The police cracked the case by examining CCTV footage and conducting technical analysis. All three are residents of Abhinav College Road in Narhe. A team led by senior inspector Varsha Deshmukh, inspector Ishwar Chavan and sub-inspector Vijaysinh Ghadge arrested the suspects after tracking their movements in the area through CCTV footage.
The accused were produced before a city court on Monday after seven days of police custody.
“The couple and their accomplice moved around Pune city in public transport buses and looked for locked flats or houses. As they moved around as a family, residents of residential societies and security guards did not question them much, and they took advantage of this,” he added.
