Varanasi: To encourage academic excellence among students and recognise their achievements, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will host its first Academic Excellence Awards ceremony Friday. A rehearsal for the award ceremony will be held on Thursday.
BHU vice-chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said, “The university should identify students with exceptional academic talent well before they complete their programmes. We hope these awards will foster a spirit of healthy competition among students.”
In courses with more than 100 students, the top three students will receive awards. In courses with 50 to 100 students, the top two students will be awarded, while in courses with fewer than 50 students, the top-ranked student will be honoured. Through these annual awards, top-performing students of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across various departments and disciplines of the university will be honoured. The number of awards in each programme will be determined on the basis of student strength.
