“The hotel was launched under an LDF govt initiative during Covid to provide affordable meals

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Kochi : LDF councillors in Aluva municipality have demanded a vigilance and anti-corruption bureau (VACB) probe into alleged irregularities involving a hotel and a computer centre operating on municipal office premises, accusing the Congress-led administration of failing to act against unauthorised establishments.

“The hotel was launched under an LDF govt initiative during Covid to provide affordable meals.

Its closure had affected people who depended on it,” said opposition leader Shyam Padmanabhan. The opposition alleged that the now-closed Kudumbashree Janakeeya Hotel, operating from the municipal office premises under the name Kudumbashree Janakeeya Hotel, was being run by private individuals under the guise of a Kudumbashree unit. It claimed that the establishment lacked proper documentation but enjoyed free space, water and electricity. LDF demanded the implementation of a unanimous council decision to invite tenders for reopening the hotel.
