Buying a Motorola phone on EMI from your neighbourhood mobile store should now involve fewer calculations at the counter. Motorola has partnered with Innoviti Technologies to bring IMEI-authenticated Brand EMI, low-cost financing and instant cashbacks to its Edge, G and E series smartphones at offline stores across India.
It is live across Motorola’s network of around 25,000 handset retailers, stretching from metros to Tier 4 markets. Tenures of 3, 6, 9 and 12 months are set for each SKU.
“Smartphone financing has become an important part of the offline purchase decision, especially when consumers upgrade to a higher-value device,” said Sandeep Mina, Chief Business Officer, Innoviti Technologies. T M Narasimhan, Managing Director, Motorola India, said financing is now a key part of how Indians buy smartphones. “This partnership brings Brand EMI offers closer to consumers at the point of purchase and gives our retail partners a simple, effective way to communicate them,” he said.
The programme runs on innoviti genie, Innoviti’s point-of-sale platform for mobile and electronics retailers. The process starts with the phone’s IMEI. A store staffer scans or types it in, and the system identifies the exact Motorola model down to its RAM, storage and colour. It then applies the matching bank offer and discount at billing, so nobody has to work out the numbers by hand. Buyers can choose No Cost EMI, where Motorola pays the interest, Low Cost EMI, instant cashbacks at the counter or brand-funded UPI discounts. Retailers see a few practical gains. Payments are settled instantly, there is no rental fee for the device and merchant discount rates are kept minimal. Stores can also use innoviti link on the same platform to collect payments from customers who aren’t at the counter, giving a small shop some of the reach of an online seller. You use AI every day.
