FIRs against 3 for posting child pornography on social media
All three cases were registered under Section 296 of the BNS, which deals with obscene acts, and Section 67B of the Information Technology Act, 2000, as amended in 2008. One case was registered at Puranpur Kotwali police station, while the other two were lodged at Sungarhi police station in Pilibhit city. Police received crime references in all three cases from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) through the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP). In the two cases registered at Sungarhi police station, sub-inspector Vishnu Singh Solanki filed complaints against Ajay Guru and Sakshi Singh, citing their email IDs and social media identities. The latter provision deals with publishing or transmitting electronic material depicting children in sexually explicit acts or conduct.
