GUWAHATI: Over the past week, daytime temperatures across the northeastern regions of India have risen above normal levels. Meteorological officials have indicated that this trend suggests warmer weather is approaching by late February.
On Monday, Agartala recorded the northeast’s highest maximum temperature at 28.2 degrees Celsius, with Lengpui (Mizoram) at 27.8 degree Celsius and Guwahati at 27.5 degrees Celsius, all within normal ranges. Shillong, typically cool, registered an ‘above normal’ maximum temperature (17.5 degrees Celsius) on Monday. On Sunday, five IMD stations in the northeast logged ‘above normal’ maximum temperatures: Passighat in Arunachal Pradesh (26.3 degrees Celsius), Shillong (18.5 degree Celsius), North Lakhimpur (27.4 degrees Celsius), Jorhat (27 degrees Celsius) and Dibrugarh (27.6 degrees Celsius).
Data from IMD weather stations in the northeast shows that maximum temperatures during roughly the past week are hovering at or above normal levels. Temperatures have occasionally varied between ‘appreciably above normal’, ‘appreciably below normal’, ‘below normal’ or ‘markedly below normal’ at certain stations.
Weather Forecast for Arunachal Pradesh and Surrounding Regions
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts significant weather changes in Arunachal Pradesh from February 10 to 12. Heavy rainfall is expected on February 10 and 11, with snowfall anticipated in several areas. Light rainfall is also predicted over Assam from February 10 to 13. Additionally, states including Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may experience light rainfall between February 10 and 12.
