AGARTALA: BJP’s ally in Tripura government and the major political force in tribal areas and hills, TIPRA Motha Party founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, expressed his dissatisfaction over the role of central and state governments, and hinted at walking out of the government.
New Helpline Announced to Address Illegal Immigration in Tripura
The party has announced plans to launch a helpline number aimed at facilitating communication regarding actions against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. The party leader stated that these immigrants pose a significant threat to the indigenous populations and communities within Tripura.
In a Facebook live, Pradyot reiterated his stand and said that he would rather walk away from the ruling coalition than enjoy power if the Tiprasa (tribal) accord, signed last year before the general election, is not implemented. He claimed the talks with the central government were very positive, but after that, things stalled. “I have instructed the leaders of my party to have the helpline circulated among the people on short notice. He explained that this is basically an attempt on our part to expedite the information gathering on Bangladeshi nationals. No one needs to take the law into their own hands. If someone is found entering Tripura, they can dial our number, and our leaders will communicate the issue with the administration for lawful action. “I understand that after the Pahalgam terror attack, it became the top priority of the government. I still have high hopes that Union Home Minister will keep his promise. But, I genuinely feel something is wrong is going on. In Delhi, the talks are very positive, but after that, things get stuck.
