Agra : A special Pocso court in Agra has sentenced a 19-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a Rs 30,000 fine for raping his eight-year-old niece in 2024.
Based on her father’s complaint, an FIR was registered under BNS sections 65 (2) (rape on a minor under 12), 351 (criminal intimidation) along with the Pocso Act. The accused (now aged 21) was arrested on Aug 28, 2024, and has been in jail since then. During trial, he denied all the allegations and said he was being framed in the case. The survivor, who was lured to the accused’s terrace while playing, bravely testified against him despite receiving death threats aimed at her mother. She also identified the accused before court. The accused was then pursuing his graduation and lived in the same locality. Soon after the incident, the minor suffered severe bleeding and her health deteriorated. The special court of judge Kundan Kishor took into consideration the minor’s testimony along with evidence and witnesses’ accounts and pronounced her uncle guilty of the heinous crime on Monday.
