Agra: The death of Premanand Maharaj’s 25-year-old disciple Deepak Lodhi, who allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of a Vrindavan ashram last week, took a puzzling turn after police recovered a grinder from his room and post-mortem examination revealed that his genitals had been severed. Forensic experts are examining fingerprints on the machine as police investigate whether Lodhi inflicted the injury himself or if another person was involved.
Lodhi had moved from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh to Vrindavan in 2025 to follow Premanand Maharaj.
Vrindavan DSP Sandeep Singh said police were investigating the circumstances in which the genital injury occurred. The grinder recovered from Lodhi’s room was being examined with the help of forensic experts to determine whether it was connected to the injury and who had handled it. Investigators were assessing the forensic findings alongside other evidence to establish whether Lodhi was alone when he sustained the injury and what happened before his fall. After receiving initiation, he began assisting with arrangements at the ashram. Police were examining the post-mortem findings, forensic evidence from his room and the sequence of events preceding his death.
Lodhi, also known as Rasik Dularisharan, was found critically injured after falling from the fourth floor of Gau Kripa Kunj Ashram near Varah Ghat around 10.30am on Sept 25. Other seekers rushed the Jabalpur native to hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police had initially been examining the case as a suspected suicide.
