Ahmedabad : A 26-year-old woman has accused a man she befriended on Instagram of repeatedly sexually assaulting her after allegedly keeping her confined at a hotel in Odhav for 10 days. Ghatlodia police registered an FIR on Wednesday after the woman returned home and informed her family about the alleged ordeal.
The woman alleged that on Oct 3, the man asked her to meet him on Parasnagar Road and then took her in an autorickshaw to a hotel near Soni Chawl in Odhav, according to police. Police said the woman’s mother had approached Ghatlodia police after she went missing on Oct 3.
The woman, a resident of Ghatlodia, told police that the man claimed he had recently gone through a breakup and was seeking a female friend for emotional support. They later exchanged phone numbers and remained in touch. In June, he allegedly expressed his love for her, but she rejected the proposal. Police traced the accused and initiated further investigation.
She alleged that he kept her at the hotel until Tuesday, took away her mobile phone and prevented her from contacting her family. During this period, he allegedly raped her on three occasions.
