Ahmedabad: A controversy has emerged over the internal exam schedule for Semester 3 and Semester 5 students at Govt Arts College, Maninagar, as students are required to appear for two exams on the same day. Exams have been scheduled from Sep 28 to Oct 1, according to the NEP timetable for Sep 2026.
On Sep 28, Semester 3 students have an exam from 2.30pm to 3.30pm, followed by another from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. Similarly, Semester 5 students have two papers scheduled consecutively. Concerns have been raised over whether scheduling the exams without a proper break complies with university exam rules, and whether students’ physical and mental well-being was considered while preparing the timetable.
Internal Exam Requirements and Conduct Policies
Students are required to attend internal exams, as their performance will contribute to marks submitted to the university. To ensure a smooth process, students must arrive at their designated seats at least 15 minutes before the exam starts; late arrivals will not be allowed entry.
Additionally, the college has implemented strict regulations prohibiting mobile phones and other electronic devices in the examination room. Any student found engaging in malpractice or exhibiting indiscipline may face disciplinary action.
