Ahmedabad: A Gandhinagar sessions court has sentenced a man from Dahod district to life imprisonment for killing a woman near Koba during a dacoity in Oct 2016.

Court Ruling in Bhuriya Case

Manji Bhuriya has been convicted in a recent court case, while his co-accused, Subhash Bhuriya, was acquitted of all charges. The case originated from a First Information Report (FIR) filed at the Infocity police station, leading to the arrest of both individuals and their subsequent trial.

Public prosecutor P D Vyas examined 31 witnesses and submitted 62 documentary pieces of evidence to prove the charges. After the court held Manji guilty, Vyas sought the maximum punishment, arguing that he had caused fatal injuries to the victim, Chetna Patel, and that the sentence should serve as a deterrent.

It sentenced Manji to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 28,000.
