A 54-year-old man has accused Vyas of custodial violence, illegal detention, criminal intimidation and destruction of evidence. A resident of Kasindra village, Anwar Hussain Parmar, went to Aslali police station on June 10, 2023, with a copy of a court order to collect his mobile phone, which was seized by the cops in connection with an offence, according to the case details. He filed a complaint with Ahmedabad rural court, which conducted an inquiry under section 202 of CrPC, examined witnesses and perused the material Parmar placed in support of his allegations. Additional chief judicial magistrate at Ahmedabad district court, R B Solanki, issued summons to the cop under sections 323, 342, 294B, 504, 506(2), 114 and 201 of IPC, and fixed Oct 22 for further proceedings.
All police officials, who deposed before the court during the inquiry, said that they were not aware of the incident. It said, “At this stage, there is no question of reaching to a conclusion whether the accused is guilty or innocent. Ahmedabad: A local court in Ahmedabad has ordered that a criminal prosecution case be registered against Aslali police inspector N K Vyas and he be summoned, following a custodial torture allegation against him. He was allegedly abused, beaten and made to sit in the police station for a few hours allegedly by Vyas. However, the court found a prima facie case against the police inspector to issue summons. What is to be seen at this stage is whether the allegations made in the complaint and prima facie evidence that came on record form a sufficient basis to prosecute the accused.
Parmar filed complaints and representations before the higher-ups, including Gujarat Police Complaint Authority at Gandhinagar , but to no avail.
