Ahmedabad: A woman in her thirties was rescued after residents of a city-based housing society approached Abhayam 181 women helpline on Thursday, following a series of incidents involving the woman. Counsellors said the woman had earlier been living in one of the houses in the society with her relatives. When residents realised the seriousness of the situation, they contacted Abhayam and the woman was rescued from the spot,” said a counsellor. However, following frequent quarrels, the landlord had asked the family to vacate the premises a few months ago. “The woman, however, insisted that she wanted to stay in the society despite repeated requests from society members to live with her family. After a few altercations, she began damaging parked vehicles and, on one occasion, also threw stones at children. The woman’s relatives later informed the counsellors that she was suffering from a mental health condition and would often wander away from home. “We advised the family to consult mental health experts and start appropriate treatment to ensure her safety.
