Modhwadia said the discussions yielded a positive outcome, with state govt taking a sympathetic view of the employees’ demands. The minister said some of the pending issues required approval from the general administration department (GAD) and the finance department. Acknowledging the role of forest personnel, Modhwadia said beat guards and Vanpals worked round the clock in difficult and often adverse conditions to protect forests and wildlife. Their contribution was crucial to safeguarding the state’s forest wealth and wildlife, he said.

They had been protesting over various demands regarding their working conditions and other issues. These would be taken up through the prescribed procedures and resolved at the earliest, he assured. Gandhinagar : Forest beat guards and vanpals in Gujarat have agreed to call off their agitation following a meeting with senior forest department officials, forest and environment minister Arjun Modhwadia said on Tuesday.
