After the Ahmedabad city district education office was divided: The wider industry impact

Ahmedabad: After the Ahmedabad city district education office was divided into separate administrative units, preparations are reportedly underway to split the city’s school management association as well. The proposed move could create a major organisational rift among school managements, with discussions gaining momentum over forming a separate association for Ahmedabad City West.

Ahmedabad city was divided into eastern and western administrative units around three to four months ago, according to sources. Sources said the association’s division framework was discussed in the presence of prominent school management representatives. Under the new arrangement, schools in Ahmedabad rural areas, Chandkheda ( Gandhinagar ) and Ahmedabad city have been placed under three separate offices. Since Nalanda School Development Complex falls under the Ahmedabad City West DEO office, efforts are now being made to establish a separate school management association for the western region to ensure administrative convenience. The proposed restructuring may extend beyond the school management association. Discussions are also underway to establish separate bodies for principals, higher secondary teachers, secondary teachers and non-teaching staff, following the same administrative division. A special meeting of school management representatives and principals associated with the Nalanda complex was recently held at Geeta High School in Ranip.

However, the two organisations later reached an understanding and reunited under a single association. The latest proposal has reportedly caused resentment among some school management representatives. The move could intensify differences among educational organisations and trigger further controversy in the coming days.

Earlier, the state had a single school management association that later split into two bodies.
