Unit-1, based in Vatva, will cover Vatva, Ramol, Rakhial and adjoining GIDC and industrial areas. Unit-2, based in Singarva, will cover Nikol, Krishnanagar, Bapunagar, Amraiwadi and Rakhial. The proposed unit-3 will cover Sabarmati, Motera, Ranip, Naranpura, Wadaj and areas near airport, while unit-4, centred around Bodakdev, will cover Bodakdev, Vastrapur, Gota, Ghatlodia, Gujarat University, Sarkhej and Vejalpur.

Officials said the initiative aims to make the crime branch more field-oriented and preventive, with teams focusing on patrolling, local intelligence, identifying criminal networks and swift response to information about suspected activities. Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad city crime branch has expanded its field presence with launch of two new units and two more in the pipeline to strengthen surveillance and keep closer watch on criminals and antisocial elements. The units will coordinate with local police and focus on bootleggers, gamblers, narcotics dealers, repeat offenders and other anti-social elements. The two units were inaugurated on Friday amid the city’s growing population, expanding residential areas, industrial zones and commercial activity.
