A jeweller in Ahmedabad has filed a complaint against a former customer who became his business partner, alleging that the partner failed to repay a Rs 1.6 crore bank loan. This loan was reportedly taken out to finance the purchase of a Range Rover. The complaint was lodged with the Navrangpura police on Tuesday.
The accused has been a regular customer of the jeweller for nearly two decades, during which they cultivated a close business relationship. The jeweller claims that this trust was violated when the partner did not fulfill his financial obligations regarding the loan.
On assurances of repayment from the accused, the company obtained the Rs 1.6 crore auto loan from a private bank for the luxury vehicle. The complainant further alleged that an inquiry with the vehicle dealer revealed that the car had not even been registered. Despite attempts to trace the accused, he could not be found, the jeweller told police. Last Sept, when the jeweller’s business was facing financial difficulties, the accused allegedly offered to join the company as a partner, promised to provide funds and eventually take over the business. The payment was transferred into the car dealer’s account in March this year. The accused allegedly took delivery of Range Rover and only paid two instalments.
