Ahmedabad: Gujarat University has reinstated Prof Vanrajsinh Chavda of the department of Indian culture, who was suspended in 2023, following a court order directing the university to reinstate a similarly placed professor whose suspension had not been extended within the prescribed period.
In its order, the court directed the university to reinstate Patel in service with effect from March 21, 2025. Patel approached the court challenging the continuation of his suspension. During the proceedings, the university’s lawyer acknowledged that no order extending the suspension had been passed after the prescribed period expired.
Chavda’s reinstatement follows that of Prof Vipul Patel of the department of social work (MSW), whose suspension was revoked earlier on similar grounds. GU authorities said Chavda was reinstated on Monday in compliance with the court’s ruling in Patel’s case.
