On Wednesday, authorities seized 35,199 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) from a warehouse located in Changodar GIDC. The total value of the seized liquor is estimated at Rs 72.5 lakh.
Officers recovered 975 boxes containing liquor bottles of various sizes. Police also confiscated three commercial vehicles — two utility vehicles and a small goods carrier worth Rs 23 lakh combined — along with six mobile phones valued at Rs 75,000. The total value of the seized property, including the liquor, stands at Rs 96.25 lakh.
LCB has launched a probe to trace the source of the consignment, its intended destination, and the broader network involved in its storage and transport. Acting on a tip-off, an LCB team led by PSI R B Rathod raided a shed belonging to Shyam Metal Company in Mahagujarat Industrial Estate, Moraiya. Police have identified four suspects in connection with the haul: Deepak Mahale and Anand Rajput from Maharashtra’s Dhule district, alongside Sudhir Pandya and Alpesh Makwana from Bhavnagar. The raid comes amid heightened prohibition enforcement across Gujarat, with police cracking down heavily on illegal liquor networks.
