In a move aimed at simplifying online govt services and reducing: The wider industry impact

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Gandhinagar : In a move aimed at simplifying online govt services and reducing paperwork, the state govt has decided to incorporate official round seals on certificates and documents issued through digital portals. The initiative will eliminate the need for citizens to visit govt offices separately to obtain stamps on downloaded certificates.

All digitally issued certificates will bear the authorised round seal along with details of the office of the competent authority issuing the document, according to a general administration department (GAD) circular issued on Oct 21. The decision forms part of the state govt’s Digital Gujarat 2.0 initiative and its ‘Digital-by-Default’ approach aimed at making public services more accessible, paperless and user-friendly. Departments will coordinate with the science and technology department to complete the required procedures before technical modifications are introduced on digital portals, according to the circular.

Govt said the new system will integrate official seals in compliance with applicable laws, rules, and guidelines. Currently, many applicants have to approach govt offices after downloading e-certificates as the documents do not carry the issuing authority’s seal. The measure is expected to save citizens time and effort while reducing delays and procedural formalities after certificates are issued.
