Ahmedabad: Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims’ families in Gujarat are desperately seeking any information about the safety of their loved ones who were cut off after a lethal deluge surged through Nepal. Families are incessantly calling the pilgrims, trying to trace phone locations, and reaching out to contacts in Nepal.
Bina Parikh, 65, went missing during her first Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage. Ayodhya to Mansarovar; then silence Kamat Chauhan, around 60, is among those reported missing after travelling towards Nepal for the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage. Her son, Sunny Parikh, a software developer, said, “My mother had reached Kathmandu and offered prayers at Pashupatinath Temple before proceeding towards the pilgrimage route. “Her phone showed the Friendship Bridge area around the time of the tragedy,” Sunny said. Amin said the three planned to come to Gandhinagar after Mansarovar, followed by visits to Tirupati and other pilgrimage sites before returning to the US. We are hoping and praying that they are safe,” Amin said. Puna said, “He regularly undertook pilgrimages, but this was his first Mansarovar journey through Nepal. “We have not been able to establish contact with them,” Vishal said. “We tried contacting her after learning about the tragedy, but there has been no response,” Nihlani said.
He added that she had joined a trekking and pilgrimage group for the journey from Nepal towards Mansarovar. The Parikhs’ biggest concern is the last phone location. “We are praying that she has somehow managed to save herself. Their calls have gone unanswered since the tragedy. They had frequently visited India and undertaken religious journeys, including the Char Dham Yatra. This was their first Mansarovar pilgrimage. The group had shared updates about reaching the Mansarovar region and surrounding mountains before contact stopped.
